Visvanatha Cakravarti took birth approximately in the year 1664 AD , within the district of Nadia in the village of Deva-grama.
His parents were Radhi Sreni Brahmanas from Bengal. He also had two brothers named Ramabhadra and Raghunatha.
He took initiation from Sriyuta Krsnacarana Cakravarti of Saiya-dabad, Murshidabad, West Bengal. He was fourth in the disciplic line from Srila Narottama dasa Thakura.
Visvanatha Cakravarti resided with his guru for many years and composed many books during that time.
His studies of grammar, poetry and rhetoric were completed while he still lived at Nadia, Bengal.
He became famous when, still a boy, defeated one conquering pandit.
From his childhood he was completely indifferent to household life and everything else pertaining materialistic life. Obviously he was interested in philosophy and spirituality.
In order to keep him at home, his father organized his marriage at a very young age. Eventually, Visvanatha renounced family life and went to live in Vrindavana. His family members tried to bring him back but were unsuccessful.
Visvanatha Cakravarti, who was also known as Harivallabha dasa, took up residence with Mukunda das, who used to live in Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami’s bhajana kutir at Radha-kunda.
There he very intently studied the books and letters of the Gosvamis and composed many commentaries on their writings.
He had a Deity called Golokananda.
He composed the following books:

Stavamrta-lahiri,
Camatkara-candrika,
Gauranga-lilamrta,
Ujjvala-nilamani-tika,
Gopala-tapani-tika,
Sri-Caitanya-candramrta-tika,
Ksanda-gita-cintamani.
