All anarthas, however, turn away with the performance of nama-sankirtana. According to Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.1.14):
apannah samsrtim ghoram
yan-nama vivaso grnan
tatah sadyo vimucyeta
yad bibheti svayam bhayam
Beings entangled in the terrible web of deaths and births can free themselves immediately by chanting, even unknowingly, the holy name of Krishna, which frightens even terror itself.
Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.2.37) later states:
bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syad
isad apetasya viparyayo ‘smrtih
tan-mayayato budha abhajet tam
bhaktyaikayesam guru-devatatma
When the living entity is attracted to material energy, which is separated from Krishna, it is overcome by fear. Material energy separates one from the Supreme Personality of God, and one’s conception of existence is reversed. In other words, instead of being Krishna’s eternal servant, he is competing with Him. This is called viparyayah asmrtih. To undo this mistake, those who are truly educated and advanced worship the Supreme Personality of God as the spiritual master, divinity and source of life. He worships the Lord, therefore, by the method of pure devotional service.
