Krishna Returns To His World
It was evening. The Lord who before the battle of Kuruksetra had spoken words of eternal wisdom to His dearest friend, now wandered through the forest. He thought back to His dearest devotees, to Arjuna. To the latter He decided to appear in a dream to talk to him.
“My friend, I have descended into this world because I had a mission to fulfill. Everything I wanted has been done, so I have no reason to extend My stay in these places. Kali-yuga is approaching and cannot enter if I am present. So I will leave soon. On the other hand I wish to return to Goloka Vrindavana, where so many devotees with a completely pure heart await Me. I leave you, but do not be saddened because it will not be long before you reach Me.”
Then He reflected on how He should leave this world. He could have done it in His proper role, like a divine being, but He didn’t want to.
“The atheists and the envious cannot understand the transcendental nature of My acts, they do not accept Me as the Lord Creator and Maintainer of all that exists. If I disappeared in my glory, how could they support their diabolical theses? How could they remain in this material prison, which is the thing they want most of all? Well, I will give them the opportunity to challenge My Supreme Nature by dying as a man.”
While He was thinking He lay down and fell asleep.
During the night a hunter passed by and, noticing the Lord on the ground, he mistook him for a sleeping deer. Immediately he fired a large arrow that had been made from the iron delivered by Samba. Through the sole of the foot, the weapon entered the body of Krishna, who left behind a material form, then left the Earth and returned to His spiritual world.
Since that day this planet, devoid of the personal presence of the Lord, looks like a flower that has lost its aroma.
