One Must Chant the Name Sincerely

posted in: English, Kadacha ENG 0

Impatience

Agraha

One must be determined to complete the prescribed number of Names. Again and again, one should not be careless in chanting the Names.

Perform nama-sankirtana with care, reject pramada and worship the Name.

One must reject the desire to increase the number of rounds and, by Your mercy, with single-minded concentration chant the Holy Names incessantly[1].

O Lord, please bestow Your Mercy, so that inattention to the Name never becomes an obstacle to my mind, and I can relish nama-rasa.

The method

Prakriya

One needs to spend some time alone and practice meditating on the Name with steady attention.

Thus, one will be able to chant the Name clearly and with feeling in one’s mind. This is my constant prayer at Your feet.

By their own efforts, no one in this world of birth and death can overcome distraction without Your mercy[2].

It is necessary to make a lot of effort. One must chant the Name sincerely, without duplicitous pretenses, otherwise there will be an offense

Yatnagrahera avasyakata. Niskapata nama grahane taha avasya thake, natuva aparadha

I will try to beg Your mercy with a desperate heart. You are the repository of compassion, so be merciful.

O Saci-nandana! If I don’t try to obtain Your mercy, then I can never have any good fortune.

He who decorates himself with this Hari-nama Cintamani has faith in the feet of Hari Dasa.

nama dvadasa-paricchedaḥ

Thus ends the twelfth chapter of Sri Hari-nama Cintamani entitled

“A Deliberation on the Namaparadha of Pramada”.

[1] The Holy Names must be chanted clearly, taking care not to cut them or mix them with each other. It must be said clearly: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

[2] It is impossible not to get distracted while chanting the Names of Krishna. It becomes possible only if one receives the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
