The Holy Name is the basis of everything
Namera sarva-mulatva
Among these four ways of understanding You (Your Name, Your form, Your qualities and Your pastimes), the Name is the most important. This is accepted by everyone[1].
Your Name alone is the dharma of Vaishnavas. Through the Holy Name, Your form, quality and activity expand.
All the pastimes of Krishna are discovered through the Holy Name. The process of understanding the Absolute Truth is through the Holy Name.
The difference between a true Vaishnava and one who is a quasi-Vaishnava
Vaisnava o Vaisnava-praye bheda ache
A conditioned Jiva can chant the Holy Name with sraddha[2]. When he attains purity, he is said to be a Vaishnava.
One who chants namabhasa[3] is a Vaishnava-praya[4]. By the power of Krishna’s mercy, he also ultimately attains suddha-bhava[5].
In the world of Maya, only the Name of Krishna and the Jiva are spiritual
Ei mayika jagate krishna-nama o jiva ei duiti matra cid-vyapara
There is nothing in this material world of birth and death like the Holy Name. The Holy Name is the supreme wealth contained in the treasure of Krishna.
Only the Jivas and the Holy Name of Krishna are spiritual. Everything else in this world of rebirth is composed of five physical elements.
[1] All the greatest Acaryas agree that Nama, His Name, is the most important and effective for advancing in spiritual life.
[2] At first sraddha means belief.
[3] A semblance, or a shadow, of the Holy Name.
[4] An almost Vaishnava.
[5] Pure transcendental feelings.
